Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
Czech director Petr Lom's documentary about Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is slated to be screened at the Berlin Film Festival.

Letters to the President will make its world premiere in the festival's International Forum of New Cinema section.

Sponsored by the Sundance Documentary Fund, Lom's production is about the letters written by Iranians to their president.

Petr Lom requested to make the film in 2007 during his visit to Iran when he accompanied the Iranian president on three of his provincial trips.

A graduate of Harvard University in political philosophy, Petr Lom started documentary making in 2004. His first film called, Bride Kidnapping in Kyrgyzstan, shows the bride kidnapping tradition of the former Soviet Republic.

The International Forum of New Cinema - or Forum - presents avant-garde, experimental, essays, lengthy observations, political reportages and yet-to-be-discovered cinematographers.

The 59th Berlin International Film Festival will be held from Feb. 5 to 15, 2009.
